This is the lower level of the barn which is
the subject of the painting 10-10-10. A light snow
had fallen and I was the object of interest for these cows
on a bright sunny winter morning.
The strong diagonal of the fence is what makes this
painting work compositionally. Additionally I was attracted
to the subject by the bold contrast between the dark
interior of the lower level of the barn and the brightly
lit exterior surfaces. The rust and blues of the tin roof
along with the green lichen covered rockwork of the
foundation provide interesting accents of color.
