The subject of this painting is a European Beech Tree
during a heavy snow. The tree is located in front of the
First Baptist Church in Sylva, North Carolina.
Looking at this tree, I am reminded of illustrations done
by N. C. Wyeth for books such asRobin Hood.
Standing in front of this tree on a warm summer's evening,
I can imagine seeing Robin and his men in the branches
waiting to descend upon the Sheriff of Nottingham in an
ambush.
